How cool is that to have an almost famous ex-list member remebered as a fossil name:
Kairuku grebneffi is named in honor of the late Andrew Grebneff, who contributed to the field collection and preparation of many of the fossil specimens of both species."

I remember Andrew as a strong contributor to the list with vast knowledge about our beloved VWs.

He's gone but not forgotten. Christened Andrew Grebneff 'Snailboi' by yoirs truly because of his passion for mussels. Not the sort that you can still find on a dinner plate at your local bistro but the extinct and/or prehistoric varieties.

There was a time I chatted with him about a trip to the Philippines. Next thing I know, he's got me chasing down some snail, nautilus thing. He neglected to mention there hadn't been any live examples found in over 100 years. Thanks, Snailboi!

As our List Admin Jim suggest, check out the link, if you are interested. Find out what Kairuku grebneffi are.
