does anyone out there know how to find out the exact tooth count of an 82 diesel speedomter gear? apparently VW has everywhere from 19-29 tooth gear rolling the odometer. odometergears.com sells them but has no way of knowing what gear you need. When i pulled my non-functioning odometer (functioning mph) the gear leading the odometer had dissapeared. probably completely dissintegrated in the dash somewhere. anyone out there have an 82 diesel speedo that they happen to know the gear tooth count on?

Subject: Rear axle grease question

I’ve got the old rear axle off and am ready to put the new one on.  Should I also pack grease into the area on the transmission where the axle is going to connect?

Thanks,
Bryan
