Sunbrella is solution-dyed acrylic. Its main selling point is that its color won't fade over prolonged exposure to sun. This makes it popular in marine applications. Boats may be subjected to bright sunlight reflected off of water day in and day out, and under those conditions color fade can be a problem. However it is not typically a problem on a Westy, whose top is down most of the time (and isn't typically exposed to bright reflected sunlight even when the top is up).
