Subject:Re: coolant temp sender connection and another broken coolant hose

It is a good thing to do. I guess I have been a bit free and easy with this motor as I have always had it in mind to replace it. But it seems I am being persuaded to change my attitude.

I have swapped in some metal coolant pipes (near the waterpump). Caught them early on and I had some good used ones on hand. The were rusted form the outside quite badly, not much metal left. So be warned, it is not just the rubber ones that are at end of life.

I could not prove that all were replaced, even though the person I bought it from said that all were replaced with the engine replacement. Paperwork did not include an invoice for hoses. Quite an expense, but I replaced every hose. Not every hose is available from ANY vendors, but there are work arounds. One work around I used was two hoses spiced together for one of the hoses that crosses over near the transmission. Actually, I think other than that one, the Van Cafe hose kit includes all except heater hoses, which are available all over.
