Is the Batt/alternator warning light in the dash an LED or an
incandescent bulb ?

reason to ask ...
I have a VW diesel in another type of vehicle that I am working on.
I currently have the D+ wire to the alternator ( the blue wire on
vanagon alternators ) going though an incandescent light bulb ,
for a warning light.
it works fine.
I know an LED would be brighter.
LED's have polarity ..
so wondering if an LED will work there for a warning light.
