I have a similiar situation with a spare engine and will do the
checks listed by Ken and Alistair. My plan is to rehab this engine
for an automatic van. Can I replace the flywheel/clutch etc with a
flex plate without any needed mods. Of course I will replace the main
seal, but what about the shims behind the seal? Just remove them? I
don't have my bentley handy to check. Thanks.
