Then my bad .
because with an air-cooled engine you wouldn't really have a way to know
oil temp ...
unless with a gauge ..
or with an IR temp gun ..
so for an air-cooled engine ..yes, an oil temp gauge would help a lot,
there not being any temperature indication in the cockpit on air-cooled
VW engines , none of any kind.

Now those air-cooled engines ..they DO need an oil temp gauge !
