Yep. That's exactly what I did. Worked fine.

The most potentially problematic part with my setup is the instrument lights, which I have soldered into the harness, to eliminate the evil foil entirely. If one of the lights goes, I'll have to solder a new bulb in. The consolation is that since I used LED bulbs, they're not likely to go out soon.
