Possibly very odd question, prompted by some words in "Oregon Desert
Guide, 70 Hikes" by Andy Kerr. He writes, "These 'roads' are tough on
tires. Modern tires are generally excellent against punctures but
defenseless against sidewall-attacking rocks."

Do owners of 14'' wheels have any options -- other than avoiding rocks?
