Perhaps people are more afraid of fire than is actually warranted. fwiw, in my car repair career I have been around engine fires about 5 times. I every case I got them out in about 6 seconds. ok .....20 seconds to get the fire extinguisher, one instantaneous blast to put the fire out. ( and man does Halon ever work great ! ) yellow flame..the kind you seen on a campfire, or a gasoline fire... is not even that hot. You can wave your hand in yellow flame. Electrical fires are as a hazard too, pretty much. what every vanagon driver should have is the ability to get the battery power disconnected in a matter of seconds. That would be real smart. Anyway(s) keep an eye on things, watch for drips, smells, smoke, etc. I train all my clients to smell in the upper driver's side air intake every time they shut off their van and get out. Smell in there for - burning oil, raw gasoline, coolant, etc. Scott turbovans On 6/28/2012 1:33 PM, JRodgers wrote: > Try the smoking thing with one of those bee smoking devices that > beekeepers use.
