Subject:Re: Westy Stove Leveling Ideas Sought

I have given this a lot of thought since the topic has come up...

I think the ultimate solution to this is a set of four pneumatic wrenches
(six would not be needed), one at each corner. These would drive 10mm
threaded rods at each corner of a 1"x1" stainless steel angle frame welded
at the perimeter of the grate. The pneumatic wrenches would be mounted on
centering-spring devices (reason explained below) and would fit in the
space below the burner deck so you would need corresponding holes (silicone
grommets will keep the underside clean from the slung hash, etc.). The
threaded rods are run thru stainless steel M10 rod couplers welded inside
the corners of the frame above. The centering-spring devices provide the
necessary movement to account for the varying geometry as the corners are
raised and lowered.

A joystic actuator can be installed where the under-sink drawer used to
go. All of the pneumatic hoses go to that joystick so that only one hose
is needed to penetrate the floor of the bus below the sink cabinet.

To reduce noise, the air compressor should be mounted outside. I have
measured and determined that the smallest compressor (more than adequate
for this) that Harbor Freight sells can e mounted upside-down below the
floor opposite side of the propane tank. Of couse, a small generator will
be needed and I was thinking this could either be mounted in the luggage
rack or in its own trailer pulled behind.
