Lift the seat as far as you can, push the latch back with a hefty screwdriver inserted between the seat and kick panel. Alternatively, you might be able to reach under the seat from behind to pull back the latch (vice grips?). A second pair of hands may be helpful either way.

Then, of course, remember to fix the release mechanism BEFORE you put the seat back down. Not that I'd know this from experience or anything, mind you.
