Hi to a great list,

I am trying to do some touchup to my 89 "Bluestar" and am having trouble
matching the paint. The label near the fuse/relay box that has the paint
code is missing. The label under the drivers seat doesn't appear to have a
paint code. I took a paint sample to NAPA for them to use their
spectro-analysis and tried what they mixed and it was too light.
http://www.gti16v.com/vwcc1989.htm shows the blue for the Carat as LP5Z,
Orly Blue Metalic, but when I check that color at NAPA the color chip looks
too dark. I called a VW dealer hoping they could tell me the code from the
VIN but they said "not on that old a vehical". I have not found any web
site that lists the color codes for the vanagons that were known in Europe
as the "Star" series of which a limited number were sold here in white,
blue, and I think red. Can anyone help me with the paint code for the
"BlueStar". The VIN is WV2YB0251KH057884 if that helps.
