Been a while so I can't remember any specific horrible examples now, but we were into plastic boxes in a big way for a while, trying to get a handle on my mess, and Sterilite didn't do well in large flattish containers with lids. We did better with Rubbermaid. I think we also had some plastic stacking drawers-in-frames from Sterilite that were utter disasters we grew to loathe. Great fun poking them with pointed sticks when we ditched them. I hedged that "dainty" distinction by backing the flat surfaces with duct tape and these have proven, if not robust, serviceable. Also, inserting dividers (heavy cardboard held in with duct tape) probably strengthens them. No cracks, no runs, no errors so far. Proven that if stood on (as a stool) they give up quickly. The plastic storage bins that have attached lids, hinged on R/L sides, seem very robust but don't seem to come in the convenient size these Sterilite's do. ;-( bob
