Good idea, this. And better than you might think for a reason that you
might not think of. I had to pull off an interstate once to take care of a
pressing need�broken camshaft in a 1.6 diesel�and had a boat on the car. I
had my usual inverted Y going at the back, which had to be released to get
the hatch open. Those big rigs passing me at 70 really knocked the
unsecured back of that boat around. Using the hinges as described here
would obviate the problem.
