Then I have no idea why you'd have needed an "oversized" gasket.  I have never heard of anyone having trouble with the OEM spec skylights, or needing an oversized gasket.  A defective gasket could probably be ruled out since they are cut off a roll; if one was bad we'd have gotten hundreds back. (Besides, you tried two.) Sorry, gotta say I'm at a complete loss to explain this one.
