In my experience the ground wire is usually fairly short and simply
attaches to the frame right near where the pump is mounted. Now, I cannot
say for sure that is the stock location because there is a chance that
everyone I have dealt with has been previous altered by a PO - however
since that was the case in all 4 of the vanagon's I am familiar with I
would say it's a good chance that is the "normal" location. Screws to the
frame on the side that faces to the middle of the vehicle.
