What type of oil are you running? Synthetic or conventional. If your driving speeds are reasonable then a 10w-40 or better yet a 15w-40 would be ideal. If you drive near 70 you should go back to 20w-50 during any extended road trips at those high speeds. If using a synthetic the 15w-50 should be fine all year. In those teens just let it idle for a minute and drive off gently for the first couple miles when the weather is in the teens. The synthetic 0w-40 or 5w-40 is also a great option for winter use. If you plan on any highway travel at do not go down to anything *w-20 or *w-30. You will get the oil light flicker. Time to change the oil I'll need to bust out the owner's manual to see what they recommend for the Cold Season. Nights down to mid-teens (F), days up to 40s. Is this ca. 1984 manual still my guide to all things engine oil? -- Jack "Rocket j Squirrel" Elliott 1984 Westfalia, auto trans, Bend, Ore.
