hey Jonce - thanks for the offer. yes, the swap would be about as quick and easy as it takes to write this. I'm hoping to be able to maintain what I already have. actually, I've got a second unit to `learn' from. so... if that doesn't go well ... may have to take you up ... mike ________________________________ From: Jonce Fancher <streetbugs@frontier.com> To: MICHAEL H <vwdash80@YAHOO.COM> Sent: Thursday, November 1, 2012 7:03 AM Subject: Re: that dreaded rear heater ... Hi Michael I have a few heaters and parts. Most from 84-85 Vanagons. I have personally just swapped out the whole unit. Few screws, Few hoses 1 electrical connector and all done. Jonce > ... that works well enough to heat the entire Vanagon has developed a tiny [for now] leak. it seems that the valve housing is plastic to plastic. I don't see a gasket. should there be one? can I fab one, put it in AND expect it to work ? hope everyone enjoyed a safe and happy All Hallows Eve. thanks for any help. mike - `85 GL 1.9L , auto.,A/C and a copy of the original Maroney in the side glass =(: D)
