ok.... La Paz, Baja Ca, 1971 Fiat 600D car that I had bought for $ 30 and prepped for Baja using mostly scrounged materials and parts. The Voltage Regular gave out just before getting to La Paz. Couldn't find one that would work ( though many would I bet ) I hot fielded the generator with 12 voltsIgnition power. and ran high beams at night ( charging about 40 amps full time ) And ran no charging during the day. it fried the battery .. but it got me 1,500 miles home the The Bay Area , Ca. that was very 'pre-Vanagon' back in those days. scott www.turbovans.com On 11/25/2012 12:55 PM, Don Hanson wrote: > Used the tire chain tensioner rubber for the water pump/alternator belt > on my inline once for about 25 miles.
