on the front belts, after removing the large plastic cover ( one screw at the bottom ) I'd cleanout the accumulated fuzz and dust ....just wipe that off....Q-tips perhaps. perhaps blow the area clean with compressed air .. run belt in and out while spraying fairly sparingly with silicone spray into the mechanismat the sides. It's all about cleaning and lubricating....for the entire van. ...would be my suggestion. scott On 12/12/2012 6:52 AM, Dave Mcneely wrote: > ---- Bill MacLachlan <billmacla@GMAIL.COM> wrote: >> seatbelts retract slowly- anyone got a fix ( other than patience)? > I cleaned my belts with an alcohol based cleaner. Window cleaner works well, just as it does for the seats and carpet. I guess soap would work, but drying time might be a factor, and I would not want to have them retracted wet. But, after cleaning, they retracted much more smoothly and quickly. If the mechanism itself could be cleaned, I am sure that would be even better, but at least I no longer have tangled belts laying around. If someone has a simple way to clean the mechanism, I would appreciate knowing it. mcneely > >> and >> >> very noisy windshield wiper mechanism.... sounds like the drive, not the >> motor...any suggestions on how to quiet it down? >> >> Bill M >> Yellow I4 tintop >> Blue '89 westy > -- > David McNeely >
