I recon the addition of the PVC "holders" will allow you to hold quite a bit of weight. By quite a bit, i mean my rear hatch weighs about 250lbs (Spare tire, Gary Lee Rack, Hi Lift Jack, 5gallons of gas, shovel, pick axe, chain, nostalic stickers, bike)....... and it can be held up by a pair of vice grips. I've only done it once, and i was terrified of being cut in half.....but it did work. I'll never do it again, that's just too heavy! -Craig On Sat, Dec 22, 2012 at 8:10 PM, Robert Stevens <mtbiker62@gmail.com> wrote: > On Dec 22, 2012, at 5:46 PM, Stephen Grisanti <bike2vcu@YAHOO.COM> wrote: > > The PVC struts might help with a bike's weight but I have not explored > this yet. > > Mine supports a 28lb mt. bike, Gary Lee ladder and full 5 gallon gas can. > > bob
