it's exceptionaly easy to wire in a 'starter booster relay.' the Ford solenoid is overkill, by far . what you need is any common, usually square bosch typerelay that will carry suffecient current, which is not much. if you look in Bentley where they show the relays on yor 87 ... the onethat's called Load Reduction Relay .. that's the type and style you need. I would just buy one from Van Cafe. the diagram you want is often right on the side of the relay. if there are 4 contacts, two are for the tiny magentic coil in the relay ..I call that the 'triggering circuit' the other two are the load circuit. one side will go to battery hot ...like on thestarter solenoid where the battery cable bolts on .. the other will be attached to your exisiting 'starter trigger wire' coming from the ign switch. I like Ford solenoids a lot ...but not for this application. I call them a 'ford fender solenoild' as they are on the right front inner fender of a jillion Fords, like from te 50's to the70's. scott www.turbovans.com On 1/10/2013 10:24 AM, TJ Hemrick wrote: > All, > Does anyone have a copy of an old Gene Berg Catalog?
