The original Oetiker clamps are best for several reasons; -Self-snugging abilities due to spring-tension -No screw-thread holes to cut into hose soft outer rubber covering -Rounded side edges to prevent cutting of hose The American screw-type clamps are the worst option for these very reasons. The fuel injection screw band clamps sold at Autozone, Advance Auto Parts, etc are okay because the have no thread holes and rounded edges, but aren't self-snugging. Oetiker clamps can be carefully loosened and removed and then installed on new hose and re-tightened with either the correct Oetiker clamp tool, or do like I do and use cheaper HF large end-nip pliers.
