There was an Australian camper conversion like this, as well as a similar
one on a Beetle chassis (!!!!!!).  But given that the rear door is on the
right, and it has side marker lights (not required for most overseas markets
at the time), I think this may be a U.S. conversion. Was it left hand drive?
Must be slow as a snail, and downright hazardous in high winds!
