Greetings!  I am brand new to the list; in fact, this is my first post.  I saw nothing in list etiquette that forbade asking for a source of a particular part--hope I'm not wrong.  I did try the nineteen page Suppliers list and have tried a few places, so far with no good result.  I need only the odometer gear for my 1983 Vanagon, air-cooled, which I've had for 17 years.  I have an excellent mechanic but he cannot find the part.  The speedometer works perfectly, so I am reluctant to replace that when all I need is for the odometer to work.
