Hi Jack . speaking of this relative smartness.. surely you see that the areas between the wheels ..fore-aft wise that is .. are more vuvulnerable to getting hitthan thing right near the wheels. the areas exactly between the wheels are less prone to being impacted...like say a differential on a solid rear axle car .. 'mostly' it goes over the bumps with the wheels. Tthe areas at the ends.. inwhat is called the Departure Angle ......like a subaru engine with a stock depth oil pan ..which is about a foot behind the rear axle line ......that sticks right down into the departure angle area ..and is thus easily hit on something. HEY ..AT LEAST YOU FOUND IT !! That's a whole hellava lot better than going nuts replacing things or going after the wrong stuff. I always thought that it's quite a good connection and LATCH system on Vanagon ecu's too. I always barely mist those connectors in the plug part with you-know-what too. Yeah ..but didn't you miss part of the game ? The second half was very interesting to say the least. Glad yer back running. scott On 2/4/2013 9:37 AM, Rocket J Squirrel wrote: > The connector was popped off the ECU by the jolt when I drove off the > curb. > > SOMEONE (I) didn't seat it fully when he (I) swapped out the ECU when > trying to located the source of hot weather steep uphill grade shutdowns > last summer.
