Subject:Re: Was fuel leak? Now: appropriate route for fuel lines

I may get flack for this as it's not OEM and I ain't no mechanic but.....

In deleting that plastic transition, I massaged things so the send and
return hoses are located roughly mid point at the firewall. I made a
stainless steel bracket for each hose, and used a rubber strap like
this (image): http://www.elecdirect.com/images/pageheaders/RubberInsulatedCableClamps.jpg
to hold each hose to each new bracket.

I didn't like that the OEM sleeves showed signs of heat damage so
routed the new hoses more or less on top of the intake runners.
"Tencentlife" aka Chris Corkin on thesamba does this on his WBX
rebuilds.

NOT saying what I did is correct, but now the fuel hoses don't contact
the block, the metal "T" is strapped to the regulator, and the send
hose is further away from the B+ connection at starter. (kind of moot
since the plastic transition is deleted) Parts of hose that may rub
are sleeved with cut up bits of the OEM material and I used small bits
of split new hose to protect the hose(s) from the cable straps used to
secure them to the intake runners.
