He kin prove it!  He's got a copy of the night letter the Navy sent
his father, saying "mother and daughter doing well."  Dad was a mite
perplexed about the daughter part since he'd already heard from a
neighbor.  Not to mention that they could more or less have shouted
from the roof of the hospital to where he was in the shipyard, so
sending a cut-rate overnight telegram seemed a bit odd in
itself.  But sacred are the ways of the Navy, long may they sail.

But just as he attained his majority in New York State at a time when
the only additional privilege afforded him was to go into debt,  so
has he already had a Golden Eagle pass since 1991...same idea with
possibly slightly better perks, but for crips and feebs.  He's a
feeb, or rather as someone writing about a 19th-century scientist
once very kindly put it, "he lost his way in life".  So there goes
all that hard-won authority. ;-)
