I live in Phx, and run 20w-50 year -round.  Had an OLD 1.9 that regularly flickered the OP lamp after freeway driving till I switched to straight weight 60. 

Record high here was 123.  Lots of folks recall considerably higher temps, but most of those are either unofficial or outlying communities, like Lake Havasu City.
