Hoping this was the issue.

Removed-reseated ground wire at "star". Light now blinks as it used to.

Connections are clean to the eye but maybe that "L" board is really
sensitive to the quality of connection to frame.

Lots of patchwork in the harness. Time for new single piece wires I think.
