> The 82/83 diesels came with one in the left side. My '81 air-cooled has no tabs in the R side and has the "standard" two tabs in the L. The '80 Vanagons had a metal grill over the intake that was part of the body stamping. Then '81s got the black plastic grill that is removeable--so a snorkel can be installed.... Richard
