This is further to my previous post regarding the AT in my 85 Westy.  I had mentioned that 3rd would kick in at about the 3.2 - 3.5 mile mark.  Well this morning we let it idle for about 20 minutes and after starting out 3rd kicked in in .5 miles.  Does this tell anything?

We drove about 100 miles after that including a mountain climb and it shifted perfectly.
