I've had a Hollywood rack for many years. Well made and a sturdy basic rack. Mine does not have the individual holders either. It is better suited for low sloping hatchbacks and trunks than a van. The shape puts the load on the top of the hatch (low slope) or trunk and then the straps just steady the rack on the vehicle. For vans or SUVs and some hatchbacks, where there is no horizontal surface to rest the rack, the two top straps have to take all the load (like the third picture on the webpage). If you attach is correctly, you can still open the trunk or hatch (without a bike) without removing the rack. Overall a good rack that folds up quick and easily. Good Luck. -Dick- 78 Scirocco 87 Vanagon Syncro 12 Gold TDI On Mon, May 13, 2013 at 2:15 PM, Jeff Lincoln <magikvw@gmail.com> wrote: > Thanks Stephen - I appreciate your input. > > I decided that for $65.00 and free shipping we couldn't go wrong - so i > went ahead and ordered the rack just a few minutes ago.
