Marco is right, its not easy. I'm a IT pro and I just pull what I want from Torrents.

Better to get good at torrenting then ripping, IMHO.

Don't flame me, for me, the objective is to spend as LITTLE time POSSIBLE tethered.

Are you Mac or PC? There are a number of software programs that will rip a DVD into a computer file and convert for iPad usage.iPad wants an MP4 file using H264 codec.

Movie studios don't want you to do this, so it's not easy unless you have the right tools. The free ones are more complicated and require some tech skills. Paid software will do it for you, for a fee of course.

I'm a Mac guy so I have used Handbrake, MacTheRipper andMacX DVD Ripper Pro (think they also have a PC version).

Cheers,
Marco

>On an (un)related Friday note, how do you get movies from DVD onto an iPad? I can only figure it out if I buy it through iTunes (greedy buggers).
