Further to my last question (which I have not seen posted to the list yet).
I tried removing all the black boxes (relays?) above the fuse panel one by one and NONE disabled the power windows. There are lots of sockets with no black box in them.
The only thing I did not try was removing the red plug (have not seen this described in any VW manual) as I don't know what it is or what will happen if I remove it. It's on the second row of sockets to the right of the left most two sockets.
What now?
