here is how I repaired broken shaft on my power mirror http://shufti.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/vanagon-power-mirror-repair/ I wouldn't go back to the old manual mirrors, even with no power to the mirrors they are miles better than the old ones. alistair On 2013-07-09, at 9:35 AM, loudmouth_70@yahoo.com wrote: > Dear List, > > Wished I had the manual mirrors on my 82 vanagon. Somehow they we're upgraded by PO. Never upgraded the hardware to get them working. Long story short, hit the passenger side against my parked truck mirror. Broke something in the swivel arm, it now swings without much resistance. On the rare occasions I get this diesel 1.9 over 40, the mirror loses position and is useless. Anyone have the internal hardware to repair? Love the ride, love being safe even more. > > Steve > Seattle 82 1.9 Diesel > > From my HTC Sensation 4G on T-Mobile. The first nationwide 4G network >
