I have a couple threads on TS about exactly this type of project.  I'm
currently moving forward with this as part of my TDI swap.  I plan on
running one of the new 3.27 ratio diffs.  I even have a gentleman in
Seattle who will be working with me to do a direct swap between his
automagic bits and my manual items--stem to stern.  No money changing
hands.
