I'm heading to Westies at Walkins Glen early - leaving essentially from the MA/RI border on the coast on Wed night and I am looking for a) camp spot a less than mid-way and b) things to do or see along the way.

I can go across CT and then up to the glen, or through mid Mass (Pike) and up to Albany and to the glen.  I like to hike and bike.  Was considering New Paltz, was there many years ago biking and wondering if it worth it, especially with a $17 entry fee.  Buttermilk Fall NY is close to the Glen, could see that on the way in.
