Subject:Rear Heater fan trouble shoot tips

Hi listers,
Getting a bit cooler here in VT so I'd like to get my rear heater fan working.

I'm told that often it is the front switch that is the problem rather then the fan itself. so here is where I'm at in the trouble shooting process.

I have a new switch from Van Cafe
I've pulled the rear fan control out from the dash.

I noticed one of the two wires were off the upper plug but replacing that didn't suddenly make my fan work. I suspect this is for a light.

I then attempted to change the switch out but was stumped at one point.
I have the switch off the dash plate but cant figure out how to separate the part with the wires from the part that attaches to the dash plate.

The new part is just the part that attaches to the dash plate and the part you turn sticks into.
I don't want to be forceful in trying to separate the two pieces.
If you can give a tip I'd appreciate it. remember in your response that I'm blind so pictures or color references don't help.

Related question. Can someone let me know what else is on the rear heater fan fuse so I can double check that I simply don't have a fuse out.

I'm hoping to find a fix before needing to track down a rear fan.

Tips are greatly appreciated.
