You are not going to see a punk sitting in your van with the alarm going off trying to start it (with the ignition disabled) Sorry Stuart, but I see that often (maybe not a punk trying to steal it, but how would I know?)....Someone sitting in a vehicle with the alarm sounding and people walking past, shaking their heads or giving the noisy vehicle-sitter dirty looks. Almost every time I visit a busy city...I see those scenes. So common it's laughable. "Wolf! Wolf!" cries the car alarm....and everyone walks on past...... Who's guaranteeing the embarrassed-looking person messing around in the vehicle is actually the owner? I am sure car thieves have learned this non-reactive behavior to alarms.... and the "good ones" just ignore the alarm, should they happen to trigger it. The "secret switch" that would work..but the whoop whoop of an alarm is nothing to me but a familiar..."the sound of the city".....I get a real kick out of the Harley riders who pride themselves that their bikes are SO LOUD that they can ride down a street and set off all the car alarms along the way...Har Har... > > -----Original Message----- > From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of > Don Hanson > > I don't see much attention ever being paid to alarms going off. >
