The Vanagon Spirit giveth, the Vanagon Spirit taketh away - Long Live the Vanagon Spirit!! The Red Brick lives! The distributor problem was solved with a replacement distributor. The engine was test run. But the next time out - the engine would not start. As circumstance would have it - the coil had failed. After some jockeying around - a replacement coil did the trick. starts and runs fine. Only second coil failure in my Volkswagens in a lifetime of owning them. Volksiebus is dead. My '88 Dover Blue Transporter blew a major oil seal somewhere. I was working on the Red Brick this afternoon, had to run to the store, started Volksiebus, began to back out the drive and there was a HUGE puddle and oil trailing out following me down the driveway. I pulled back up and shut down. It's had a leaky pulley seal for a while - and I think it just let go. Got Christmas duties tomorrow - so won't get back to it until Thursday to check it out. Some Christmas Eve, huh! Actually Christmas begins for my family at 6 PM. Looking forward to it. Merry Christmas, Volks!! John
