I sold a Vanagon to an Atlanta buyer. I took the axles off for him. He showed up with a portable drill with a step drill in it. In less than five minutes he drilled two holes in the front body member (under the bumper) big enough to get his fingers in and hold a nut in four places to mount a Harbor Freight towbar. He then set up road lights with magnetic bases and an extended harness to reach all the way to the rear of the Vanagon. Pulled it home with a Crown Vic.
