I've owned old and new vanagons with round and square lights. The round lights with the bus depot or other similar upgrade is a world apart from any other vanagon lighting. The way that the light is bright like a "modern" car with an evenly filled field of light below a sharp cutoff, with that "up-angle" on the right to see roadside stuff better just can't be beat. You can make square headlights better by cleaning them thoroughly, not a simple thing to do sometimes. You can make any of them better, including the round ones, by giving them better wiring and grounds.
