Subject:Re: 1993 Eurovan with 127,000 miles: yes or no

Not sure of the question here. Too little details.

The engine is Audi based but a 2.5L. I don't remember if it was the bore or
stroke but in the Audis the engine was a 2.3L. So plan on many unique parts.
The manual transmission is an oddball and for some reason the towing rating
is lower for the manual than the automatic. Unless impeccable maintenance
has been performed this could be mechanical time bomb at this mileage. Even
at that the tranny is approaching end of life. Steering racks are common
problems along with motor mounts. Timing belts are real fun. If you don't
paying for or locating parts for the vanagon you ain't seen nothing yet.
Tires and rims! Choices are real limited. Just not extra room in the front
wheel wells.

On the good side these can be a blast to drive.

Dennis
