At least it is easier than swapping trannys back and forth.

I have owned a bunch of 82 diesel vans so I have swapped back and forth
between DZ and DK more than a few times. It makes a pretty dramatic
difference. Until recently 215/75/15 was my tire of choice so I have
swapped wheels of that size back and forth as well. That wheel change
makes less than half the difference that the tranny swap makes. I
suspect that once he has the larger wheels on that they will tend to
stay on if he keeps the low geared DZ tranny. A combination of the
larger wheels and a taller DK makes things too tall at times even for
1.9D and 1.9TD so I recommend against that.
