Subject:Re: 91 Carat: 15 inch rims vs 16 inch rims

All these sizes still leave you with limited availability for tires and the
15" sizes only offer a marginal improvement in handling. 225/60-16 or
225/55-17 are common tire sizes used on many vehicles and both are available
in XL versions. Both being about an inch taller than stock also offer a
slight gearing advantage. The 225/60-16 normal load index is 98 and is
suitable for the vanagon. The XL version of this size is usually 102 which
is preferred. For the 225/55-17 the normal load rating is 97 and the XL is
usually 101. There are some XL choices in this size for under $100.

Going to up grade the rims on my '91 Carat.

Thinking of going VC Euro-look Alloys in 15 x 7 ET 23 or 16x7 ET23.

15 inch - 205/65/15 and 205/70/15 or Michelin Agilis 205/65/15. Load Range
C

16 inch - Nokian 215/60/16 or 225/50/16

Would appreciate any comparisons between the two rim sizes, tire sizes, etc,
cautions, etc. Handling, etc.

Any comments would be appreciated.

John
