I normally just paint them with good paint and spray clear coat on it.  Home
Depot has both.

handles look like crap.  This handle looks to simply be painted with satin
black paint, but the originals appear to have a more integral coating than
paint.

What have folks done in this regard?  I wonder if powder coating would work.
