Heading out right after we do our little Friday morning show on our local community radio station (9am Pacific time, KPOV 88.9, Bend, Oregon -- available streaming at kpov.org, tune in to hear me give Central Oregon's least-useful weather segment). The van's supplies have been topped off (propane, water, kerosene for the radiant heater, charcoal and wood chips for the smoker, foodstuffs, booze, reading material, and cat food.) The cat is an an talkative and amiable little rescue cat Mrs Elliott and I acquired last year who is used to being on a lead and might or might not like this experience. If not, will end the trip early, no sense making the little girl miserable. Heading up to Gray Butte, close to Smith Rock, near Terrebonne, Oregon. Dry camping, not really a camp site but a wide spot with a spectacular view on a rarely-traveled dirt road. Nary a soul nearby. Quiet and peaceful. This will be a five-nighter. Depending on the cat, of course. -- Jack "Rocket j Squirrel" Elliott 1984 Westfalia, auto trans, Bend, Ore.
