I am currently on the road and my van is overheating. I have to drive with the heat on or else the temp sensor will go all the way to he right and then start blinking. My vanagon has a fairly new motor and a recent tune up. I suspect that the radiator needs replacing since it's the original 85 radiator. I'm near Redwood City headed to Los Angeles this evening. 
I am now leaking coolant from the main coolant tank I believe hats where it's coming from. 
Should I make this trip over the grape vine or am I risking blowing my engine? The radiator seems to be cool, too cool. No apparent difference from one side to the other. The back of the van is hot. 
Any advice is much appreciated.
